Langmu Monastery

Langmu Monastery, located at Langmusi Town in Luqu County in Gannan Prefecture, consists of two Buddhist architecture groups separated by a brook with the north one belonging to Gansu and the south belonging to Sichuan. It was first discovered by some foreign backpackers and has become a well-known assembly area for backpackers.
What to see?
Langmusi Town is a small town surrounded by grasslands, woods, hills and red stone cliffs at the junction of Sichuan and Gansu provinces. It has a beautiful environment and is known as the “Oriental Little Switzerland”. There are two historical Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in the town, called Gandan Sai Chi Monastery and Geerdi Monastery (in recent years, in order to fight for tourism resources, both temples also claim to be Langmu Temple). The two temples are a small and clear one. The stream, named Bailongjiang, can walk along the creek to the Bailongjiang Gorge, and the scenery is very beautiful.

There are two small roads in the town center. The buildings on both sides are full of Tibetan style. There are also many petty-bourgeois shops, which can be visited by a family. Two sections of the road in the center of the town are paved with slate of different colors. The boundary between the two slate is the provincial boundary, where you can experience the magical experience of “one step across the province”. In the north of the town centre is also close to a halal village, with mosques and buildings full of Islamic style, coexisting with the surrounding Tibetan style, the landscape is beautiful and unique.

The Geerdi Monastery is located in the Sichuan part of Langmusi Town. The Wushi Gelden Living Buddha Body Temple in the temple is the essence of the Langmu Temple attraction. It is very magical to enshrine the living Buddha body that has not been spoiled for hundreds of years. However, the physical hall can not be seen at any time, it will be opened once in about three or five days, and only tourists with Buddhist borders can see it. In addition, there are many halls worth visiting in the Gedi Temple with more than 600 years of history. Each has a fantasy story, and you can find a local person to tell and feel the fantasy of religious stories.

The entrance to the Bailong River Gorge is at the deepest point in the Geerdi Monastery. You can go on a hike or a horseback ride. There are rock formations around the canyon. The landscape is beautiful and beautiful. There are several small grasslands in the canyon for picnics, as well as the "Fairy Cave" and "Tiger Cave." ", "Yin Yindong" and other landscapes full of religious fantasy stories. From the end of the canyon up the mountain to the top of the mountain, you can also see the beautiful panorama of the entire Langmu Temple town.

The Ganden Sai Chi  Monastery is on the side of Gansu Province. The building is magnificent, and each hall is gilded. The morning mist lingers in the morning, but the hall is golden, which is very suitable for photography. There is a celestial burial platform in the back of the temple. If you have the consent of the family members of the deceased, you can go to watch the celestial burial. You need to climb the mountain from the temple back for about 40 minutes. The celestial burial is only available when the locals die. This family is not recommended for the funeral of the deceased.

How to travel there?

Tourist route
Langmu  Monastery is generally planned to travel in Gannan or North Sichuan. It is close to the Gannan Labrang Monastery to the north and the Zoige Grassland to the south. The recommended itinerary is to arrive at Langmu Temple at noon on the first day. After that, you can take the Noon bus to leave Langmu Temple, go to Lanzhou or enter Sichuan. If you feel good about this town, it is recommended to stay here for a few days.

Catering & accommodation
Langmusi Town has complete accommodation conditions, hotels, B&Bs, youth hostels, etc., all of which have different levels of accommodation, ranging from tens to hundreds of rooms, and can be selected according to needs. In many characteristic Tibetan inns or youth hostels, every night, there will be innkeepers, local Tibetan friends and tourists singing and talking together, very happy. There are also many restaurants in the town, mostly Tibetan and Sichuan cuisine. If you are not used to eating, there is a Lisa restaurant that can provide Western food (characterized apple pie and yak burger, which is famous among foreign backpackers, but the price is also good. Not cheap), because the local barren goods are shipped from outside, the price is slightly more expensive than the mainland.
