Guilin Reed Flute Cave


The Reed Flute Cave, a popular scenic area in Guilin, is  is situated in the hillside of the Bright Hill of Northwest Guilin City and near the Peach Blossom River, about 7 km to downtown. It is a brilliant cave marked on almost all travel itineraries. The Reed Flute Cave got its name from the verdant reeds growing outside it, with which people make flutes.

What to see?

Inside the cave are a large number of stalactites, stalagmites, stone pillars, stone curtains, and stone flowers, all glistening in colorful lights which create breathtaking splendor which are really feast of your eyes, they are given names according to what they look like.

You follow the U-shaped route to see the different sights including Morning Glow over Lion Forest, Virgin Forest, Fruit and Flower Mountain, Double Pillars Supporting the Heaven, Crystal Palace and so on. You may use your imagination of their likeness. The Crystal Palace where illuminated stalagmites reflect in the caves natural lake is the most impressive sights of the cave.Near the cave are villages, rice paddies, pavilions and lake for bamboo boat rafting.  

Tourists enter the Reed Flute Cave and then take a U-shaped sight-seeing route to see different spots, whereupon they exit it from another cave quite near the entrance one. One trip lasts about one hour.
 
The Yellow Dragon Cave of Zhangjiajie is over 10 km long,but Reed Flute Cave is only 800 meters long.However, the cave is very beautiful whch takes you about fifty minutes for exploring. The cave is Top AAAA Scenic Spot and opened to public in 1962, it is most tourists' visit-cave in China even in the world and is described as "Art Palace of Nature" .

Opening hours: April to November: 7:30-18:00;  December to March: 08:00 to 17:30
Transport: Take bus no. 3 or 213 and get off at Reed Flute (ludiyan) Station.
