Hiking in Longji


Hiking in Longji is a special activity while you travel in Longji Rice Terraces Scenic Area , Here, you will have the opportunity to go on a trekking tour passing through the awe-inspiring Longji terraced rice fields from Pingan Village to Jinkeng Village, watching Yao minority women showing off their super long hairs.

Longji Rice Terraces Scenic Area, also known as Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces, is located approximately 27 kilometers southeast of Longsheng County of Guilin City.With a vast region of rice terraces stretches layer upon layer, coiling around from the base of Longji Mountain to its summit, Longji Rice Terraces is the most amazing terrace in China.

The fresh air and the unique scenery in Longji will be an ideal place for hiking fans to go. You will fall in love with this place at the first time when you see the terrace rice fields here. With a history of more than 700 years, Longji is not just an attraction nowadays but still being use for growing rice by Yao and Zhuang villagers. The rice terraces are built into the hillsides and look like great steps cut into the slopes as they wind around the mountainsides. This ingenious construction makes best use of the scarce arable land and water resources in the mountainous area. Hiking is the vest way to admire and experience the green terraced rice paddy of Longji, especially in Summer.
 
Hiking Route:  Ping’an Zhuang Village – Tiantou Village (Jinkeng Rice Terrace Area) – lunch time in local family – Dazhai Yao Village – back to Ping’an / Guilin
 
Detailed Arrangement:
1. Get up and see the terraced rice filed in Ping’an village area. Ping’an Zhuang Village – the start of the hiking tour, possessing two famous scenes named Seven Stars around the Moon, and Nine Dragons & Five Tigers.
2. About 3.5 hours hiking from Ping’an village to Tiantou Village in Jinkeng Rice Terrace Area via a Yao ethnic village called Zhongliu village. Jinkeng Rice Terrace is home to Yao minorities, where you will be rewarded feats of magnificent rice growing fields going all the way up a string of 2400 feet (800 m) mountains.
3. Lunch time in one of the local farm houses
4. Continue to trek 2 km to visit Yao family in Dazhai Village
5. Have a break in Dazhai and then drive back to Ping’an / Guilin
