Meichi Ancient Village is located in southeast of Longjiao Mountain, a scenic spot and the hometown of Yao people’s ancestor, in Linxiang County of Yueyang City. The village is adjacent to Chibi and Chongyang in Hubei Province. In recent years, it has made great efforts to develop itself into a national ecological civilization village and a provincial sanitation and environmental protection village.

Meichi Ancient Village was among the first batch of Hunan featured tourism villages, Yueyang’s top 10 beautiful villages, and Yueyang’s model village for new countryside construction. In 2013, Meichi Wengqin Opera was added to national intangible cultural heritage list

Recently, the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs announced the list of beautiful leisure villages in 2019. A total of 260 villages across the country were selected, 9 of which were from Hunan. Meichi Village of Linxiang County, Yueyang City made the list.
