By Air
Changde has its own airport, Changde Taohuayuan Airport. It is located in the southwest of Changde City and is only about 12.2 kilometers away from the city center. It has flights from Changde to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Haikou.

By Train
Two major railways, the Zhicheng-Linzhou Railway and the Shimen-Changsha Railway, pass through Changde City connecting to the Jiaozuo-Zhicheng Railway and the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway.
Shimen-Changsha railway was opened in 998 and it goes through Changde City.
Changde Railway Station, the major train station in Chngade, is located in the north of Changde City, and it about 74 kilometers away from Shimen County. The railway provides services from Changde to many cities of China.

By Bus
National Highways G207 and G319 connect all major regions of Changde and lead to 8 other provincial routes. By the end of 2015, Changde will boast a expressway net consisting of Changde-Changsha Expressway, Changde-Jishou Expressway, Changde-Zhangjiajie Expressway, Changde-Yueyang Expressway, Changde-Lixian Expressway, Changde- Anhua Expressway, Anxiang- Cili Expressway Yichang- Zhangjiajie Expressway.
Changde has convenient road bus services. There are China National Highway 207, G5513 Changsha–Zhangjiajie Expressway and G56 Hangzhou–Ruili Expressway running through Changde City and provides an extensive road network between Changde and other cities.
There are four bus stations in Changde, the Central Bus Station where you can take buses to Changsha, Shimen and many other cities; The North Bus Station where there are buses to Zhangjiajie and other destinations; Liuye Lake Bus Station; and The South Bus Station where there has buses to Taohuayuan and other attractions.

By Water
There is navigable waterway channel between Yueyang and Changde. Tourists can reach Changde from Yueyang by ship.
Yuan River and Li River pass through Changde and Changde therefore enjoy an advantage in waterway. Changde boasts Changde Port, the second largest port of Hunan Province, which is designed to have an annual capacity of 1.2 million ton of bulk cargo and an annual capacity of 20 thousand containers. It possesses 10 cranes of different sizes with the maximum crane capacity of 40 ton. In Changde, there are 36 docks along the Yuan and Li Rivers with a total capacity of 10 million tons per year. Both passenger and freight ships can now sail directly to the Dongting Lake and the Yangtze River from Changede.

Intercity transportation
Changde also has ultra convenient intercity transportation. Despite the convenient intercity buses and taxi services, Changde also promote public bike service that there are decades of rental stations for renting a bicycle around the city. What's more, Changde has built the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system which has provoked the public transportation of Changde in a great extent.
