Xishan Scenic Area


Xishan Scenic Area is located 1 kilometer from city proper of Guiping City. It is famous for its strange stones, elegant woods, sweet springs and fragrant tea. It was a Buddhist site formerly, and Buddhist buildings are still well preserved nowadays. 

Guiping Xishan Scenic Area National AAAA Grade Scenic Area. The main scenic area covers an area of 13.47 square kilometers. Most of the mountains are magmatic rocks that is the igneous rock geological structure of granite, formed during the early Jurassic period of the Mesozoic, 180 million years ago.

With the unique landscape,  Xishan Scenic Area has the vegetation coverage of  98%.  There are more than 1,500 ancient trees from 100 to 1,000 years old. There are more than 400 species of precious camellia, stone ficus, dragon scale pine, silver rattan, and camphor. The mountain rocks are rough and abrupt, and they are lingering, rock-filled into peaks, stone-framed into gates and caves, stone-cuts into gorge.

The scenic area also has a long history of Buddhist culture. It is one of the seven major Buddhist holy places in the country. A passenger ropeway with a total length of 633.9 meters has been built for tourists to climb the mountain and enjoy the scenery. In addition, unique festivals such as the Bathing Buddha Festival and Litchi Festival are held every year.
