Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Intercity Railway, Hunan’s first intercity railway connecting Changsha, Zhuzhou, and Xiangtan cities, is 95.5 km long. Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Intercity Railway was officially open to traffic on Dec. 26, 2016. This double-tracked interciety railway connecting Changsha, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan covers a total length of 104.36 km, running at a maximum speed of 200 km per hour. The commuting time among the three cities would be shortened in 30 minutes.
It is a core project of the “3+5” intercity railway transport network of Hunan Province. Construction starting on Sep. 30, 2010 with a total investment of 24.05 billion yuan, the 95.5-kilometer-long rail is a two-lane passenger-dedicated line covering 21 stations in total. 16 stations in the south of Changsha Station (excluding Zhuzhou Station) have been open right now, while seven stations to the west of Changsha Station are under construction and expected to be completed in 2017.

The following sixteen stations are opening for passenger service now, namely, Changsha Railway Station, Shumuling Station, Xiangzhang Road Station, Xiangfu Road Station, Dongjing Station, Xianfeng Station, Furongnan Station, Muyun Station, Jiulangshan Station, Tianxindong Station, Dafeng Station, Zhuzhounan Railway Station, Zhaoshan Station, Hetang Station, Bantang Station, and Xiangtan Railway Station.

28 and 34 pairs of EMU trains ( with a capitalized letter C on ) designed for intercity line are arranged to set off at normal and peak hours respectively during the initial operation stage.
