Chngsha South Railway Station
Changsha South Station is located in Huahou Road, Yuhua district, Changsha and it is 9.5 km away from the downtown. On December 26, 2009, Changsha South Station was formally put into service with the opening of Wuhan-Guangzhou section of Beijing-Hong Kong high-speed rail.
Station Layout
There are now 2 yards in Changsha South Station and they are respectively Beijing-Hong Kong passenger line yard and Shanghai-Kunming passenger line yard. It has totally 13 platforms and 28 lines with the construction area of 272,600 square meters. Changsha South Station will be introduced into Shanghai-Kunming high-speed rail under construction, which will form a cross with Beijing-Hong Kong high-speed rail.
The building of Changsha South station is divided into five layers and they are respectively waiting hall layer, platform layer, exit layer, subway waiting hall layer, subway platform layer from top to bottom. The only entrance is in the platform layer.
Waiting Room
Bus passengers can take either of the two elevator to get into the waiting hall once they have entered into the station building. While, passengers who drive themselves or take a taxi can directly go to the drop-off platform to get in. The entrance is equipped with 6 security scanners in operation and can be used for 5,000 passengers to get in per hour.
The area of the Elevated Waiting Room in Beijing-Hong Kong yard is 25,134 square meters (The waiting room of Shanghai-Kunming yard is under construction), and there are totally 14 automatic ticket gates and 14 manual ticket checking windows.The area of the waiting room for basic platform is 510 square meters and there is 1 automatic ticket gate and 1 manual one.
The area of VIP waiting area is 246.8 square meters and there is a channel to basic platform and a barrier-free vertical elevator which can be used to run up to the elevated layer.
Leave the Train Station
To come out Changsha South Station, travelers should all together go down to the exit hall from the platform firstly. There are escalators connecting the exit hall with all of its 13 platforms. Besides, there is a barrier-free vertical elevator to each of the 11 intermediate platforms connecting to the exit Layer. For those who want to go to the subway station, 2 elevators are available in the exit hall.
