Shanxi-Shaanxi-Gansu Guild Hall


 

Shan-Gan-ShaanShanxi-Shaanxi-Gansu Guild Hall is famous for the large-scale excellent brick, stone and wood carving which can be found on various parts of architectures. These carving demonstrate a variety of themes. This guild hall is a rare treasure of architecture art that was built during the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty with the funds collected among businessmen stayed in Kaifeng. 
The hall functioned as the gathering center for them. The major structure left today are the Memorial Hall to Lord Guan, drum and bell towers, archway and subordinate buildings on both sides, where people can admire vividly carved bricks, stones and wood, depicting Buddhist stories. Just like other traditional Chinese architectures, this courtyard is orientated north and south with its gate facing south. 
Generally speaking, people who are interested in both the ancient Chinese art and the traditional Chinese carvings can choose to visit the Shanxi-Shaanxi-Gansu Guild Hall when traveling in Kaifeng.

Opening hours: 8:00 am-18:00 . It is recommended to spend one hour to visit there. 
Best time to visit: March to May and September to November is the best time to visit, when has mild and comfortable weather.
