The Tongguan Kiln , or Changsha  Kiln s well known for its initiative of red glaze and variety of under-glaze colors in its porcelain works. It innovated in the decorating style with poems, proses, inscriptions, characters, as well as paintings of flowers, plants, birds and animals.
Tongguan Kilinis said to be one of the most famous kilns during the period of the Tang Dynasty (618-907) and Five Dynasties (907-960). It iAccording to the textual research, the Tang Dynasty was the heyday of Tonogguan kiln, when the kiln products found their way to over 29 different countries and regions. Hence it is known as “a milestone to the spread of Chinese ceramic culture”.
Changsha National Archaeological Park of Tongguan Kiln, China's first National Archaeological Relic Park, officially opened to the public in March 2010. Two month after, the “Porcelain Firing Technique of Tongguan Kiln” was listed as a national Intangible cultural heritage. In October 2012, Tongguan Kiln was accredited as a national geographical indication protection product.
