Jiangtouzhou Ancient Village


Jiangtouzhou Ancient Village is located at Jiuwu Town of Lingchuan County, 32 kilometers far from the northern suburb of Guilin, as well as the west bank of Hulong River, the upper reaches of Gantang River.

The residents of Jiangtouzhou Village are the descendants of ZhouGuoYi who is a famous scholar of neo-confucianism in the Northern Song Dynasty. The 14th generation posterity of ZhouGuoYi migrates from Daozhou of Hunan Province to here during the reign of Hongzhi in Ming Dynasty. They planted lotus around the village, and built an imposing ancestral temple named loving lotus.

The village has preserved the architectural pattern during the Ming and Qing dynasties, covered by the black bricks and gray tiles, wood frame. The houses are tall, row upon row, cascading roof, simple and elegant. The scenery of the village is so beautiful.

The north is near the lush Huangjia Hill where spring water flows perennially, the south leans against the Jiuxian Hill, the west is next to Fingers Sector, and the east looks towards the Beacon Hill. The Immortal Hill is in front of the south-east of the village, and the General Hill is in front of the north-east of it, as two guards guarding the peace of the village.

There are hectares of fertile farmland in front of the village. Three glittering and translucent rivers, such as belts around the village, flow slowly to the south, means that future generations fly far and high and have bright prospects. Behind the village, there are green pines, verdant cypresses and towering old trees. The whole village is near the hills and by the rivers, pleasant environment.
