Geography of Seda
Located in the northeast of Ganzi Prefecture, Seda County is situated in the intersection of Sichuan Province, Qinghai Province, Aba Prefecture, Ganzi Prefecture and Qinghai Province, and the junction of Liantang County, Ganzi County, Furuo County, Shiqu County, Dari County and Banma County. The Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture is located in the county of Litang, bordering on the two counties of Banma and Dari in Qinghai, and adjacent to the Ganzi and Huohu counties in Ganzi Prefecture.
The downtown Seda County covers an area of 1.8 square kilometers, with a resident population of 7802. The average floating population is 8,000. It is the political, economic and cultural center of the county. The county is composed of “well” shaped roads, which consist of “three vertical and six horizontal” streets. It is the ethnic group with the highest elevation, the coldest climate and the worst natural conditions in Ganzi Prefecture.
The origin of the name of Seda County, after research, was mainly named after the discovery of a horse-shaped gold in Setang in the early years, so it is called "Golden Horse".

The climate of Seda County is a continental plateau monsoon type with an annual average temperature of -0.16 °C, an average temperature of -11.1 °C in January, an average temperature of 9.9 °C in July, an extreme minimum temperature of -36.3 °C, and an extreme maximum temperature of 23.7 °C. In the fourth season, frost and snow can occur, and the atmospheric oxygen content is less than 60% of the standard. The average daily temperature is ≥3 °C, and the annual total solar radiation is 80-200 kcal/cm.
The average annual sunshine hours in Seda County is 2451.1 hours. The average precipitation is 65L4 mm, and the concentration is mostly from June to September. Best time for traveling to Seda is from May to October every year. The Seda County Golden Horse Festival is the big festival of the Seda herdsmen's sacrifice to the gods on the fourth day of the June (the fourth day of the Tibetan calendar).
