Dongtai Mountain
Dongtai Mountain is located at the suburbs of Xiangxiang City and facing Xiangxiang downtown across the river. It is also called Dongtai Mountain National Forest Park. And it s the only national forest park in Xiangtan City.
Dongtai Mountain National Forest Park covers an area of 340.7 hectares and features three scenic areas of Dongtai Mountain, Tazi Mountain and Lion Mountain. There are plenty of ancient and verdant trees towering in the park, with 187 species of 134 categories of 63 families of woody plants and more than 1000 species of over 180 families of herbs. The forest coverage rate of the park reaches 93.7%.
Dongtai Mountain National Forest Park boasts distinctive rural charm and urban style. Focusing on forest eco-tourism and the past stories of teenager days of Chairman Mao Zedong, the park has become an important site in memory of Great Man Chairman Mao, and an ideal place for citizens living in Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan City Cluster to take a relaxation and low-carbon tour. It has integrated forestry science and technology, sightseeing and ecological recreation.
