Zhuzhou Travel Tips


Zhuzhou lies in southeast of Changsha beside the Xiangjiang River. It is part of the "ChangZhuTan Golden Triangle", comprising the cities of Changsha, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan .

Zhuzhou is located in a subtropical monsoon climate zone and with its abundant mineral and organic resources has one of the highest agricultural yields in Hunan Province. Legend has it that Emperor Yan (Shennong in Chinese) once grew crops, tasted all kind of herbal medicines, taught people to plough the fields, and created farming culture - the source of Chinese civilization - in this area.

Zhuzhou is also the cradle of electric locomotives, as well as the base of aero-generators, lead and zinc in China. Pottery and porcelain wares produced in Liling County enjoy a high reputation throughout the world, named the "top of pottery and porcelain art in the East". Thanks to long-term development, a tour of Hongguan Kiln in Liling as the representative of this industry has become a highlight of any visit to Zhuzhou.
1. This city is, in a way, the largest traffic hinge in southern China. Zhuzhou Railway Station is one of China's five transport station of both passengers and goods. Ships can reach many cities on the Yangtze River running along the Xiangjiang River. Although it do not have its own airport, it is convenient to have the aid of Changsha Huanghua International Airport. Through the highway, only a few minutes are needed between Zhuzhou and Changsha.

 

2. Zhuzhou has five main stations in the city proper. The long-distance bus station east of Hongweiqiao and the central bus station in the south of the Hongqi Square are the largest.

 

3. Zhongguling commercial walking street in Husong District of the city proper is scattered with places of amusement, book stores and food shops. It is a good shopping destination where local specialities can be easily found, either.
