Legend of King Xiang


Legend of King XiangXiang Dakun, also called King Xinag by local Zhangjiajie people, was a King Tusi in the Ming Dynasty(1368-1644) .Xiang is a family name of Tujia Ethnic Group.King Xiang was one of the most famous heroes among Tujia Ethnic Minority in the area of northwestwern Hunan Province and southwestern Hubei Province.
Since ancient times,the legend of King Xiang had been well known widely by local Tujia people in the area of Zhangjiajie.  It was recorded that he once led Tujia people up-rising and founded a small kingdom in the area of Wulingyuan in Zhangjiajie City.
Especially, lots of scenic spots were named after the story of King Xiang. Tianzi Mountain, originally called Qingyan Mountain, was changed as Tianzi Mountain after King Xiang died so as to memory him.
